How does announcing the identities of judges before a competition and not after compare to knowing the identities of the examiners of an MCPF Exam before the actual examination? Does a candidate get surprised when he/ she enters the room of examination upon seeing the examiners?

Can we have the same rules for examiners and judges?
It is no secret, that those among us, who are frequent participants of Framers Corner can be found as judges, examiners, members of boards and committees. They are the ones who are most keen, put in all the unpaid hours for the rest.
Without them, the PPFA wouldn't function the way it does now.

I frame for me! The one and only time I framed in a way that was not me was the only piece that did not go on to National. Since I have joined PPFA as I remember the biggest turnout we had locally for competition was 4 in print and 3 in Open. In the last 3 years we do well to have 2 and 2.

This time the judges did not love what I did.
I am still sending it to National because I Love both of them and I am proud of them.

Other than last year a judge has always sought me out after judging at National to discuss what I did and what they did and did not like.
This has been invaluable to me as an everyday framer because I can get myself into some design crazy situations and the year a judge cane up to me and said about my piece..."How are you going to get it open should you need to?" was the best question/ advise I have ever had!! I was MAKING something and the long term idea was not even in my head for that piece. That question and my thinking after that has really made me better.

I find there are people that just don't get my framing style but I have made some great framing - mentor- friends from the ones that do.
( Other than my dear DOn Berkman! He would want me to tone it down or leaf it!)

My question is..... can and with the competiton board suggest a precount of entries.. per chapter?
I'm sure theres a way to tell how many print pieces are sold.

In our chapter (National Capital) I've been involved in competitions in some way for 8 of the last ten years and every single year we've sold more print pieces than have ended up being submitted. You don't know until the day of judging how many submissions there will be. We've also had years with no Open submissions at all.

I hope you won't be discouraged from competing in the future. I do feel like interest in the print competition in any given year depends on interest in the piece chosen.
