PPFA would like to congratulate the following winners/recipients of the following 2013 scholarships:

L. Thomas McKeon, CPF Scholarship
Samuel Budd, Caloundra Framing Factory, QLD, Australia
Michael Masters, Old Masters Picture Framing, Otorohanga, New Zealand
Laurie Laverdure, Images and Frames, Moose Jaw, SK, Canada

Vivian C. Kistler, MCPF Scholarship
Mikki Kavich CPF, Mikki's Frame Shop, Crossville, TN

Way to go!

We had a lot of great entries and want to encourage those who did not receive a scholarship to please apply again. Great feedback from the selection committee and a terrific job to everyone!

I was very happy to see how many people applied for the McKeon scholarship. This year we had ten applicants to choose from and it was not an easy decision; I wish we had been able to award one to everybody. It was also gratifying to see the geographic diversity: of the five recipients two are in the United States, one in Canada, one in Australia and one in New Zealand.

The selection for the Kistler scholarship was particularly tough, as we had some outstanding candidates. I think we can all feel good with choosing Mikki and I know she will do Vivian proud.

If you applied and did not receive a scholarship, I strongly encourage you to move ahead with certification, scholarship or not. And remember, you can always apply again.

Thank you to the members of the selection committee who helped make some tough choices:

Bart Ingraldi, CPF
Mark Klostermeyer, MCPF
Joyce Michels, MCPF
William Parker, MCPF, GCF

Scholarships

This is an excellent program and a very resounding THANK YOU to the members volunteering your time to keep it going. You should feel very good about what you are doing and the rest of us appreciate your hard work.

Congratulations to this year's winners, and a special THANK YOU to the committee!

Mike

So Excited!

Thank you all so much! I am very happy and excited to be chosen. I feel like doing the MIss. America walk.

Thank you so much now for the hard part.

Mikki

Congratulations Mikki, you are Miss America walking in my mind (sure you've got some slammin' shoes for it too!).

Good for you being so committed to your business, your profession, the standards of our industry, and your own brain and passion!

You are an inspiration to me, and I am SO sure you are to your clients too. Go Get 'Em Hunny! :thumb:

Congratulations to some very deserving framers! It so nice to see all of you making this commitment to your craft.

Now spread the word next year about this wonderful opportunity to help further your framing commitment, the Scholarships are Great!

Is it coincidence that both USA framers who were awarded the scholarship are named "Andrew"?

And, yes, thank you to the committee for their hard work!

I'm a happy recipient!

Andrew

The Selection Committee consists of four framers (or five including David). One being William Parker. I remember reading articles written by William in Decor magazine. Perhaps he still does, since I am not a subscriber to this magazine.
He had some good ideas about framing, yet when I go to the Community -list of members on Framers Corner, his name is not there. It is any member of the PPFA's individual choice to be part or not of Framers Corner, but undoubtedly William and some other notable framers can make a valuable contribution to the discussion on this forum.
