Wally Faye and I headed up to this from SE Chapter. We had a blast! I scored some cool Mat Magic stuff from the PPFA storage wars and some cool framing fossil tools, ALMOST got a mat smacker, maybe I'll find one someday! Great Meat tenderizer I think! layful:
It was awesome and invigorating to see another chapter functioning and putting together a fun and inspiring event. Loved the Glass Blowing factory tour, the tour of 21C was fab but EATING there in the bistro was way fab-er! Oh yum!
Loved hanging out with ya'll, commiserating, dancing in the funky music place, getting jaded by Bourbon, Mikki and Wally and I rummaged around some COOL antique stores (bought some wonderful prints). Won a couple of door prizes.
Met some great people (Jo Ellen and Debbie Winbun, I loved your happiness, joy, hunger to learn, eager to share...just great). Jim and Gail were as refreshingly sweet as ever. My favorite jolly grump (Randy Parrish) represented the storage facility nicely :thumb:, and drove some hard bargains, Love ya Randy Pants! Always a delight! Grand to meet Robin for real and see hw much she cares in person, and Mike and Letha were as charming as the day was long. Linda Wassel, oh Linda, you are Peaches and Sunshine and cream in the coffee, great class, fun spirit, super tricks and inspiration. Bonnie was a zany inspiration as always, perfect for some 'flat' projects I have, add bubbles.
Other Robin, the 'no holds bar' competition thing was fun and free and a cool idea, wish I had brought something; and lovely to see the front of the frame focused on for a fun competition, no one talked about the angle of the wire or the wrap, it was light and playful and free, loved it.
Wally was a delight to hang with get to know better, share our zeal for all things foodie, sip bourbon with, and seriously brainstorm for the SouthEast event we are planning. He is a wealth of info, a delight to talk to and never condescending to the less knowledgeable, as someone like myself. PPFA has a treasure in him. I know our chapter is blessed to have him.
I know I am forgetting oodles of people, but great times. Folks, if Vegas is not in the budget, get to a chapter event. Chapter Leaders, Vegas is not in the budget for A LOT of framers, these are a nice step in to framers. Framers do not understand the sharing nature of our uber-niche business. Don't know how how much knowledge wisdom and inspiration is being placed in one convenient vessel, the PPFA.
Stressing this once more, Chapter Leaders, our industry, our peers, we framers need you to lead, inspire, harness the energy and enthusiasm of all of us, and serve it up to them. The industry, the vendors, we framers and our clients, need us on our best game. To make a better product, a more confident framer to keep the zest of what we are doing alive. Making art, treasures, and beauty really shine.
KY/TN Chapter of PPFA, thank you for setting such a nice table, that was a pleasure to dine at, so to speak. And so enjoyed ya'lls southern hospitality, what a delight! Worth every cent!
P.S. Vendors that attended, thank you for supporting us, and please keep it up. We want to support you right back for that!
