I'm posting this from an email from Alan Abeyta, who gave me permission to post his idea. :thumb: Thinking outside the box is a great thing. I know that I have visited other shops on occasion and learned a lot. Susan
I had an idea that might need a little fleshing out as a possible benifit to the membership, but it will require cooperation from all PPFA members if this is going to work.
What if we do a Framer Exchange program?
Two shops would agree to exchange a framer for a week. It might work like this...shop "A" want to learn about corporate selling and installations, Shop "B" does just that. Contact is made and a date is agreed upon. Shop "A" woud pay their own way to shop "B" where they would help out as an extra framer for a week, with a focus if possible on their interest. Shop "B" would have them be a home stay and feed and drag them around for the week. Then during that same calender year shop"B" would send a framer to shop "A" and the same thing would happen.
The shops could promote it to their clients as "we have a visiting Framer from "ABC" shop in "ABC" state, come in and meet them" The would also both benifit by having a new set of eyes to look at the shop from a different perspective and have an extra hand for free labor. In addition someone might just learn something!!!
