The PRINT chosen for the 2012-2013 competition year is“Petroglyph /Rock Art” by artist Ron York, from Beaverton, Ore. His artwork media is described as slate or shale with a hand-carved Native American design.
The size of each piece is about 3-by-3 inches.
The framer’s challenge is the non-uniform shape, thickness and color. There is some weight to the object, and mounting issues will need to be considered in the appropriate handling of this piece.
PPFA members can get the PRINT piece from Chapter leaders; members of the Mailbox Chapter (who do not live in an area served by a Chapter) can purchase directly from PPFA.
After Chapter-level competitions, the finals will be next January at PPFA 2013 in Las Vegas. For information on the competition, visit ppfa.com.
