Hi all,
I've spent the last six months working as a framer at Michaels. I didn't expect to like the job so much but it's a great compliment with my art degree and my previous experience in research (brain science). I joined as a PPFA member because I want to make picture framing my career. I'll be eligible to take the CPF exam in six months and I want to start studying now.
No question that I don't get a comprehensive training from Michaels. Worse, after my first three months of working, my manager took a medical leave of absence and won't return until April at best. I want to study and become better at framing, eventually finding a more stable place to work. I figured while I'm at a big box, I can work on earning my CPF and researching on my own.
I want to sign up for the CPF study group that is starting in March (12 weeks) but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to attend every meeting at 4pm. Is that considered a faux pas or bad form? I'm doing pretty much everything on my own and on my own time.
Advice? Thanks in advance!
